WARNING, POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

I don't know if anyone found this before, but while I was playing the game yesterday, I found three symbols throughout the game, called Yellow Signs. When pressed, sentences appear on the screen while a red and black background "pulsates" while the background sounds from the abandoned cottage plays. To me they seem to be said from the "New Friend's" point of view, of him discovering the Yellow King's Play, and transforming into a horrific beast. Have anyone else found them? Are there more?

(+1)

I found them too! But I don't seem to have found any more besides the one you mentioned (I think it's the game's way of foreshadowing)

i mean it probably is from the new friend's point of view since one of the endings has a book of the king in yellow in the basement where they are

Cute and creepy with GORGEOUS art and animation! Loved it!

I'm gonna work hard on my art so I can get the art book.
I have to return the support that the others has given to me as an artist.
I really thought that Trixie will not contain some parts for LeRose and the other cast of Parsnip (that was kinda true, surprisingly).
I expect gaining some insight about the other casts like the Magnificent Magpie.

On my watch.

Okay, so when i watched video's from this game, i was too scared to play, Seems it was cute at first, but may get scary? Only at some part's, but when i played it, it was amazing i enjoyed it but didn't really mind anything about it, i also didn't know that Parsnip was a boy, Is parsnip kind of a femboy? Yeah i don't know,  i really like the art, it's really cute and the details are amazing! The squirrel girl is pretty much my favorite, same with the bird, i forgot her name!

Found a bug. Steam/Unity seems to think this is a VR game. SteamVR launches when I start parsnip.exe, and the game closes if I close SteamVR.

cool short game to waste an hour

such a fun game, brilliant way to spend and hour. I loved the visuals they're so cute. Im a sucker for a point and click adventure with great art. i know its not high on most peoples list but i was really greatfull for how simple the adventure was to. A lot of point and click games are soo confusing in how you have to solve them.  Great job

Trixie Glimmer Smith is definitely a better visual novel than Parsnip is an adventure game, but I have a soft spot for weird games that unconventionally tie into grander sequels.

Plus the animation is nice! A lot of people seem to consider Parsnip creepy (the game, not the man Barsnip Bunner who is very creepy), but I'd say this one is almost entirely comedy. Dark, murderous comedy, but still comedy.

I really loved this game. It gives me some 50's Disney vibes (style-wise, at least). Amazing artwork, cool story, smooth gameplay, aweful horrible terrible protagonist (and I loved that). That was an hour well-spent :) I'm excited for the next game!

I wasn't expecting for that twist, but damn I LOVED IT! Very short, but I think it was perfect for the narrative. Each one one the characters felt very real for me in their core. Amazing game. I'll play the sequel right now!

I had heard good things about TToTGS, so I decided to play this series from the beginning... holy crap, this first entry blew me away. There's something so agonizing and nerve-wracking about being stuck behind an oblivious and irresponsible protagonist. The characters have so much personality, and coupled with the game's beautiful artwork, it makes for an incredibly immersive experience.

just tuning in to say what an amazing game, so much love in animation and writing (that twist!). Pseudo point&click mechanics also work really well. Parsnip Bunner is my new role model now.

(+2)

Ok, great work on making a completely unlikable protagonist, and still making the game fun to play. That's HARD to manage, I deeply dislike the bunny but I had to know where all this was going!! XD

(+1)

Super loved it, it was dark but fun at the same time.

I'm also starting to think the parents aren't at work..

I played Parsnip and at first I thought it's a cutecy game without any kind of twist. But eventually it turned out to be wrong, it's a pretty dark-themed game with plot twists like Parsnip's add behavior and secret features like yellow eye markings, and branching endings. 10/10

I just played it  (bought it in a Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality) and I absolutely love this game!

I see sequel is in a bundle too and I'm sure I'll play it!

this game ran really smooth for me, and the graphics are gorgeous!! the whole game, i loved looking at everything! I enjoyed how the plot developed and meeting all the characters! I can't imagine how much work went into developing this little world, thanks to the dev team<3

I had a technical issue I don't see elsewhere so in case anyone else has it: if you're missing DLLs or having issues with the audio being absent, install or update microsoft directx.

(+4)

This game had a lot of good dialogue, and slowly discovering just how terrible and annoying Parsnip is to everyone was a unique and wonderful experience. The animation was great too.

My two major complaints are that there's no music, and that Parsnip's idle animation has him moving too much, but it looks like you fixed both of these issues in the sequel(s).

(+1)

very interesting game. wish I could give money for estrogen and greggs meals (whatever that is) directly

Just a heads-up - this game contains OpenVR DLLs for some reason, which means that for those of us with VR goggles it will start SteamVR and trying to close it again also closes the game.

I also didn't manage to exit the menu on the first screen. Pressing spacebar also immediately closed the game. A shame, as the game does look interesting and seems to have nice animations.

i'd love to play this game, but i can only get it to run for about 15 seconds before it crashes

(+1)

This game is definitely a strange one with the strangest protagonist I've ever seen. I must admit, I don't like Parsnip, the character, the game is great. I cared more for LeRose and Bell. LeRose looks great in this game and I really miss her dark clothes in the sequel. Hopefully she will put them on again in the future. The look of the whole game is absolutely stunning. Together with the story it's the cutest dark game I've ever seen. You always do a great job with the stories you tell. I hope you won't stop with it because your games are amazing.

That's just great. Fascinating, thank you for that. <3

why in god's name does Steam VR open when I run this game

No offense, but I see so much beer bottles everywhere!

(+1)

The game is a demo or is it finished?

This is an amazing game with great characters, pretty art style and spooky atmosphere. However, this game completely destroyed my gpu for some reason.

Spoiler: I felt so bad for Squirrel Girl when she got kidnapped, she's just a baby. Sure she is naughty but finding nothing but her little scate  and candy on the floor where those freak sheep took her is so sad. Thankfully she can be saved.

I would like an option to kill of Parsnip, the little pervert violated LeRose. Poor LeRose, she doesn't seem like such a bad woman. But she is loony and messed up. But I still think there is care in her heart as she did not want to give anything that could be dangerous to the bunny ba*****.

The ending where Parsnip dies while playing with a toy trumpet. XD I would like to see that. He's like, "Doot doot!" and chockes or something and dies.

LeRose is my favorite character.

(-9)

Yeah, poor innocent LeRose, it's not like she has a "Meet-and-fuck-rabbit.com" tab in her browser. Totally violated by a childish porn drawing.

(1 edit) (+3)

watching porn is not on the same level as "having your (seemingly normal) neighbor come up to you and give you a handdrawn picture of you guys fucking" dude jfc

(+1)

So I originally downloaded Parsnip onto my desktop and it took a while for it to start up. When the instrustions came up I accident got out of the instructions and it crashed and closed out of the game comletely. I tried a few time to get it to start and it kept doing the same thing. So I decided to go through the itch.io app to try to play the game and it still crashes. I'm not quite sure why it does that or how to fix it. Any kind of advice would be really helpful.

(+1)

Hey, so I've been trying to install the game and I'm wondering if anyone else has been getting this error?

I just played it and it didn't give me any problems... try redownloading?

Hey, so I gave it a try. It seems to be the fault of the program I usually use to unzip things, Peazip. It's a little weird since I've never had the issue with other software on itch.io. :( Ah well, got it working on Winzip

I'm glad it's working now!!

(+1)

cool game!! definitely did not expect it to be spooky 0_0

(+3)(-1)

Does the game have multiple endings?

I ask because Bell is in the sequel, but at the end of this game (At least the end that I saw) Bell died.

I ask to know if I have to replay.

PS: I love the game, its characters and the whole concept.

You are awesome<3<3<3<3.

God, I saw a gameplay video and it looked like Cuphead. Did you hand-animate the whole thing, too?!

UPD Just played through. It's nice but why on earth does any player like Parsnip, Jesus.

(+1)

https://mezmeromania.itch.io/ hand animated and drew all of the art : )

(+2)

At first I thought this would be a cute little game but then I was shocked I love these types of games that give shock value I loved this and this game is one of the most memorable games I've ever played

hiya! i bought your other games in the sale, but figured i'd play this one first to get myself up to speed =] it's very charming!

i had a lot of trouble getting it to start [i think it and the itch.io app just don't play well together for some reason?], so i was worried at first that audio was broken since there was no music [certain endings aside], but i guess it's a stylistic choice? some of the sound effects really varied in volume though [the background ambience of birds was next to inaudible, for example] - you might want to reexamine the levels if you ever return to this

the art is absolutely beautiful, really lovely to see!

it did seem a little sluggish and slow to respond to input, but i guess that's probably some limitation of the engine

some of  the apostrophes got replaced by question marks, which was kind of distracting; i really liked that one gag with LeRose's speech though, haha! i just wish i could have seen the whole thing

also parsnip is such a blessed sweetheart. i love him

very excited to be moving on to your next titles!

Just a tip: Make the text more grey, now it strongly pops out and takes away the immersion. Would be nicer if it's sort of the same color as the lines of the text balloon :)

i didn't have a problem with the colour of the text myself - in fact, i think making it grey would make it significantly harder to read
